Planning and Forecasting 

Overview 

 

Forecasting is nothing but predicting future outcomes based on what has been observed in the past or current reality. Predictions can range in multiple industries like healthcare, education, finance, etc. Unlike forecasting, prediction is estimating the value of an event based on unseen data. Both forecasting and prediction are regarding a future, even ranging from a long period(Garett, 2013). For this assignment, a narrative story of the Internet is used in this discussion.

 

A summary of an infamous story

 

The infamous story that is picked from the summary is the Internet. Though technological advancements brought the development and enhancement of the current Internet, the Internet’s first idea came into effect when Nikola Tesla toyed with a wireless system in the 1900s. Further enhancements and developments were made by critical thinkers Paul Otlet and Vannevar Bush, who conceived the storage system. Later, in the mid-1960’s the concept was further developed with networking. According to the Internet (2020) the first message was made in 1969 through a computer. Scientists in 1970 further developed the original idea with full transmission protocols and internet protocols. The Internet came into its current actual form in the 1990s. Hence, the development of the Internet from its first ideals conception took over 100 years. 

 

Impact forces 

 

It is hard to express the impact in a short essay; the Internet’s impact is now huge and almost dominating everything we are doing. The advancement in technology and the future of innovation is now heavily dependent on the Internet. We can see the impact from different perspectives: social and economic impacts, technological impacts, impact on human behavior, impact on organizational change and growth, impact on educational systems, impact on telecommunication, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and event space science is all impacted by the Internet in or the other way. It is the authors of this essay’s opinion that there is nothing that the Internet would not touch in this century(Internet, 2020).

 

To summarize, the Internet is now the first innovation that ever exists on this planet. The existence of the Internet though it is started with the concept of toys, it is daily and heavily affecting our day-to-day life; the forces behind the development of the Internet are technology, human life, and societal changes.
